Brugge - Friday

(Saturday 3 April 2010) by Jill's travels
Woke this morning to sunshine. We took the train to Brugge from Ghent which took 20 minutes, expectedly on time and very clean! Hmm. As you can imagine in Belgium lots of shops selling chocolate, Brugge every other shop sold chocolate and because its Easter time all the shops were decorated with Bunnies and Chocolate eggs, it was lovely but expensive. Apparently, Brugge is known as the little Venice and having been to Venice we had to agree. Rozenhoedkaa was particularly pretty and was the most photographed spot in Brugge so we took a photo. The church of our Lady was particularly imposing as was Begijnhof where the church and ousthouse grounds were covered in daffodils, very pretty. The Market place and Brug Square was just like Venice, bustling with tourists, as the up market restaurants, bars and buildings were amazing to see. We stopped for the mandatory bier at a bar where the walls were covered in all the bottled bier from Brugge, there were loads, we both had a photo taken!(Whats annoying is Alans was perfect and mine was out of focus clearly, the guys at his work wont necessary beleive that) although generally this is what happens when we are in competition)! so annoying! Brugge is very pretty with the smell of chocolate and fresh waffles around every corner. We had a great day xx
