Ardennes Belgium

(Monday 5 April 2010) by Jill's travels
Left Ghent yesterday and drove to the Ardennes region of Belgium which took us a couple of hours. What a lovely drive, the roads were very quiet for an Easter holiday and as we drove further into the region the roads got steeper and more tree lined. We are staying in Tullin where the campsite is in a valley surrounded by forests, it’s breathtaking. It is worlds apart from the one in Blaarmeersen where the caravans where either big munsterlanders or the tiny little round ones crammed into tiny fields with few electric and water points. This site is vast with loads of points and luxury shower facilities, music plays in the toilets and showers 24/7! (OK, maybe the music isn’t essential to your wellbeing)! We are right next to a teepee and overlooking the river which has a river walk running along side it. The supermarket sells fresh bread and chocolate croissants and the little bar is very popular, although we couldn’t hear any English accents. The wi fi is free and has total coverage throughout the site so tomorrow we will be skyping our family, yey. It has to be said though, we enjoyed sitting amongst the locals where wifi was the cost of a bier! Today we walked all afternoon in and around Bure and the Tullin region which is all forests, the views are breathtaking and the climbs were steep. It is the first day that it was dry all day and the mud is not quite so muddy. Tomorrow we go to Luxembourg, best wishes xx
