Saelland Region of Denmark

(Monday 15 November 2010) by Jill's travels
Hiya, We are still in Denmark and have moved onto the Sjaelland Region of Denmark which is near Copenhagen and borders Sweden. It has to be said that this region has a certain uniqueness that Jutland and Fynn lacked, in my opinion. We are staying at a Wellness Centre at Holbaek right on the edge of the Holbaekfjord and Marina. The weather is cold, windy and wet but the bonus is we have a sauna and hot tub which comes free and can be used anytime, hey. There are cycle tracks all around this area and the walks in the forests and around the fjords are stunning. The downside is the cost of living is quite high, we went to the cinema the other night to see 'Red', all the cinemas are in English with Dannish Subtitles! cost us 150 DEK which is about 16. Coffees are around 10 for two cafe lattes. We move onto Copenhagen on Wednesday where we believe Tivoli has the most amazing Christmas Festivities, so watch this space. I cant add anything more about Denmark really, except the 15th Centuary buildings scattered around are stunning but they are gradually being overtaken with modern architecture much like the rest of Europe with a little more graffitti and more uncharacteristically Dannish. Best wishes xxx
